SYLGV

The collective supportyourlocalgirlgangvienna (SYLGV for short) brings together women who have a connection to Vienna and work in various artistic disciplines. The resulting event series CONTEMPORARY DESIGNSHOP is a curated format that supports Viennese female artists and designers, makes the sustainability of their work visible and helps to shape a creative, cultural space through public participation.

The founders and initiators of SYLGV are Birgit Rampula with her fashion label AMATEUR, founded in 2007, and Katharina Amenitsch with her fashion label KAMEN, founded in 2014, who have been curating and organizing the art and fashion format CONTEMPORARY DESIGNSHOP since 2018.

Flowing fabrics, minimalist cuts and timeless, urban design characterize the fashion designers’ small series and individual pieces. All products are made in Vienna and stand for quality, sustainability and authenticity. The use of sustainable fabrics and deadstock materials as well as the application of zero waste cuts actively contributes to reducing the

ecological footprint. In addition, the production of small series avoids unnecessary overproduction.

As part of the VIENNA FASHION WEEK 2024, KAMEN and AMATEUR present their new SYLGV project.

Instead of disposing of their sewing leftovers from the current collection, the two labels are offering their materials to accessory designers and artists. They use them to create unique accessories and showpieces for the upcoming collective fashion show, sending a strong signal for upcycling and zero waste. The aim is to minimize the waste of resources and promote the creative use of fabric remnants and offcuts.
