On 12 September, a special kind of fashion show (called TBD) will take place as part of VIENNA FASHION WEEK 24: 13 local designers from Vienna and Lower Austria will be showing upcycled clothing that has been donated to Caritas. The show is sponsored by the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft.
The LBG researches how science can promote inclusion, while Caritas helps the homeless with its crypt. Together with sustainability activist and author Nunu Kaller, both organisations want to create more visibility.
There are often very specific appeals for donations for the Gruft. LBG and Caritas, together with activist Nunu Kaller, are taking a small diversions to make clothes that are of no use to people on the street ‘usable’: local designers are upcycling clothing donations from the Carlas.
The pieces shown in a show focussing on diversity with models of all ages, sizes, genders and figures will then be for sale at the VIENNA FASHION WEEK pop-up. 100% of the proceeds will go to Gruft, the Caritas homeless centre.
