Fairy tales can come true, as demonstrated by Austrian designer Marlen Sabetzer-Till and her marvelous fashion-art creations under the label MarS at the MQ Vienna Fashion Week 23. It was a magical spectacle of MarS originals, a dreamy catwalk performance, and classical music. The fact that many of the MarS designer pieces were admired on the red carpet and in the audience beforehand spoke for itself.

On September 12, 2023, there was a palpable sense of sweltering heat and a lot of fanning just before the MarS show, opened by Candy Licious in a blue see-through dress. Cello music accompanied the scene of the bright runway, where models glided like mythical creatures through a forest clearing. Dark blue, purple, gold, dark red, black, and dark green dominated the collection, titled “per.mettere” (which translates to “allow” in English). The individual pieces surprised with a variety of different fabrics and textures.
MarS creations are not just allowed for mainstream models, but “for all people who want to be noticed,” explained Marlen Sabetzer-Till ahead of the show. The designer frequently crafts her distinctive, one-of-a-kind pieces from leftover materials. Her love for various textures and intricate details is evident in her work. Nature serves as her greatest source of inspiration, and the limitation of raw materials sparks the creativity of the creator, who, thanks to her intuition, is often ahead of current trends. This is also appreciated by the customers of her boutique “Angelegt” in Vienna’s 6th district.
In addition, Marlen Sabetzer-Till used the platform of MQ Vienna Fashion Week to draw attention to suicide prevention during the “World Suicide Prevention Month” of September. According to her, the phrase “This too shall pass” from the film “My Best Friend’s Wedding” has helped her through tough times on several occasions. After a spontaneous call on Instagram, women who have overcome a crisis and want to raise awareness of support services came forward. These women appeared in a dress embroidered with this phrase, sending a message to all people: You are incredibly strong, and you don’t have to go through it alone!
This dress, presented by Candy Licious, narrated an ending full of hope and happiness for the MarS fashion fairy tale at MQ Vienna Fashion Week 2023.
