HYBRID BODIES BY TINA LECHNER
Tina Lechner’s work focuses on the female body—not as an image, but as a projection surface for questions of identity, transformation, and existence. In her photographs, she creates hybrid, utopian bodily beings, equipped with specially made costumes and objects that move between human and machine, armor and ritual, past and future. Her analog practice forms a conscious counterpoint to the fleeting imagery of the present: light is inscribed directly onto the negative—a slow, concentrated act that leaves traces behind. This creates visual worlds that make vulnerability visible and at the same time design new, viable forms. Lechner’s figures embody a fluid, unfixed state. As border crossers in the sense of Donna Haraway’s cyborg concept, they elude clear classification and open up radical visions of female self-determination.
