The Miss and Mister Austria contest was held for the 95th time. This year, Mission Austria presented them for the first time as part of Vienna Fashion Week. The candidates had to prove their catwalk qualities in outfits from EPOS and students from the Michelbeuern Fashion College. Lucia Sisic and Christopher Dengg were ultimately crowned the winners.
Even before they stepped onto the catwalk at Vienna Fashion Week, the 19 candidates had a lot behind them. At the Mission Academy at the Hotel Aviva, they had received training in all disciplines from walk to styling and social media. During this phase, they were already able to collect points for the later freestyle, but it was only in the Museumsquartier that the battle for the title was decided, always under the motto “Be who you are”.
Presenter Sasa Schwarzjirg charmingly hosted the evening and introduced the jury. However, they had to hold back with their assessments in the first round. As a warm-up, the candidates wore 90s-style outfits put together by students from the Michelbeuern fashion college. The results were rock looks with glitter, mesh and leather with metallic details.
In the second round, the title contenders were dressed by EPOS, the label with which Mission Austria mastermind Kerstin Rigger is making her debut as a designer. Her collection consists of authentic leisure wear with a wearable and simple cut, but in bright colors. Or as presenter Schwarzjirg put it: “This dopamine dressing immediately puts you in a good mood.”
After this walk, two candidates had to give up the hunt for the title. At another EPOS show, the models-to-be were supported by experienced former title holders. Colorful leather, shiny materials and fringes dominated the catwalk that decided the six finalists. For Lucia Sisic from Vienna and Christoph Dengg from Graz, the dream finally came true: they are Miss and Mister Austria – at least for one year.
