christA franZ manages to maintain a balance between wearable streetwear and high craftsmanship in the couture sector. Her philosophy of reinterpreting old craft techniques and transforming them into type-appropriate models once again wowed the audience at this year’s VIENNA FASHION WEEK.
From macramé elements and various pleating techniques to old traditional tailoring methods, the love of craftsmanship was clearly evident. But great street style looks were also on show on the catwalk. Cosy everyday dresses with a certain sophistication gave us the courage not to say no to a tight-fitting red dress. Combined with boots, it will be the new favourite look for the office.
Black & white looks, round cut-outs and asymmetrical cuts were additional eye-catchers. Using a special weaving technique from traditional costume tailoring, christA franZ created a new surface and used it to create several looks at once.
The highlight of the show and the designer’s personal favourite was a bright yellow couture dress that attracted a lot of attention. The special thing about this piece: it is made from a single length of fabric and was carefully pleated by hand. The dress has a dynamic look thanks to the seam that is perfectly aligned with the body line.
christA franZ combines sportiness with elegance and focusses on old traditional craftsmanship, a wonderful performance that draws attention to the fact: quality before quantity.
