Between French music, glittering sequins and nods to the traditional Austrian dirndl, Kiki Korsett presented a collection full of contrasts at VIENNA FASHION WEEK.26. At its heart was the corset. Sometimes glamorous, sometimes inspired by tradition, and always reimagined.
The soundtrack to Kiki Korsett’s Where Leather and Silk Become Couture sets the mood from the very beginning of the show. The models move down the runway to French music, allowing the masterfully constructed corsets and glittering sequin skirts to be seen from every angle.
In her collection, Kiki Korsett combines the finest suede with Italian silk. At the heart of every look, however—as the brand’s name may already suggest—is the corset.
Despite the recurring corset-and-skirt silhouette, the designer manages to make every look intriguing in its own way. Whether it’s a petticoat worn without a dress over it or a voluminous cape embroidered with flowers, each look has something new to offer. And just when you might be getting used to the skirts, a pair of trousers adds a change of pace. The corsets, too, come in a wide variety of shapes, showcasing their versatility.
Tradition, Glamour and a Proposal
The collection’s palette moves between earthy shades of brown and green, offering a perfect preview of the approaching autumn, and glittering outfits that feel like the last warm memories of summer. In between are all-black looks that particularly highlight the designer’s craftsmanship.
Alongside her daring, glittering designs, Kiki Korsett also draws on tradition. Corsets and dresses in dusky pink bring dirndls to mind, revisiting a familiar Austrian silhouette. Tradition meets modernity, sequins meet swimwear—combinations that are hard to pin down to a single style and, in doing so, showcase the designer’s versatility.
The audience was visibly impressed by the show. A marriage proposal to the designer provided a fitting finale, adding to the already enthusiastic atmosphere.
