Elke Freytag: Timeless elegance between business and glamour

Viennese designer Elke Freytag remained true to her brand: elegant and classic cuts were interpreted in a new and modern way. From business chic to evening dresses, she succeeded in conjuring up timeless silhouettes.

Elke Freytag is known for her studio in Vienna’s 7th district. Many of her designs are sewn on site, otherwise in small workshops – sustainability is high on her list of priorities. Four times a year, she releases a new, exclusive collection, the results of which she presented to great applause at Fashion Week on Saturday.

It’s no secret that Elke Freytag is inspired by the classics. For example, the white shirt blouse has been used as a basis and modified time and again. The combination of tight, straight-cut skirts and high boots was also very popular. But instead of stopping at office fashion, the designer gave her looks a modern twist. She sometimes added shiny boots or eye-catching prints such as leo, flowers or snakeskin style. Despite the wide range of materials, she kept the colours rather muted and suitable for everyday use, but strong red and blue tones were also on show alongside more neutral shades.

The evening gowns from the FREYTAG NACHT line were particularly impressive. The simple but impressively cut gowns with shiny fabrics were particularly impressive. Deep back or leg cut-outs emphasised the effect. The designer also ventured into sequins. The dresses were the crowning glory of her varied show.
