Michelbeuern fashion school: Individuality capitalised

Once again this year, the Michelbeuern Fashion School proved just how much potential there is in Austria’s young designers. With 16 different collections, the students addressed important topics in the fashion industry: the fight against the fast fashion industry, awareness of equal rights and the view of the norm.

By using sophisticated cuts, asymmetry and bold fabric combinations, they send out a signal that individuality is IN and outdated standards are OUT.

This message was reinforced with a project in collaboration with ‘Mission Austria’. The clear message is: ‘Away from 90-60-90 measurements’. Students from the fashion college created and produced a collection for the finalists of the Miss and Mister Austria competition. A mix of red leather, perforated rivets, leo patterns, silver fringes and sequin fabric, inspired by style giants such as Prince, bring the 90s back to the catwalk.

The entire performance was accompanied by music composed especially for the fashion show by Linus Miller. The audience, including family and friends of the graduates, were thrilled. Martina Reuter, style expert and graduate of the Michelbeuern Fashion School, was also amazed by their skills. ‘The models were super cool, you realise just how much you can learn in a short space of time.’
